DIY Blessings Tree - Embracing Change

For the holidays, I wanted to share how you can create a blessings tree in honor of all the blessings you have experienced in life.
With Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon, I have become keenly aware of just how blessed I am and how thankful I am.
What a special way to commemorate this season of thankfulness by creating a Blessings Tree!
My favorite style of decorating involves the rustic cottage look so that is precisely the direction I took this idea.
Let me show you my tree first and then I will tell you a little about how you can do the same.
I love my sweet little tree!

DIY Blessings Tree - Embracing ChangeMaking this Blessings Tree was a very easy DIY project.
Here is what you will need to make your own tree:

canvas tags
chalkboard paint
brushes
white paint pen
twine
Various décor for your tree – I used red berries, gold pinecones and plaid ribbon for mine

For the DIY ornaments:
birch circles (cut your own or buy them pre-cut at your local craft store like I did)
You will also need a drill to drill the holes in the birch slices to hang your ornaments on your tree.

DIY Blessings Tree - Embracing ChangeCreating the ornaments was simple – just take your birch slices and paint a chalkboard circle in the center of each one
with chalkboard paint.

DIY Blessings Tree - Embracing ChangeAllow each coat to dry well – it takes just a few minutes.
Give each about 3 coats of the chalkboard paint.
After they dry, I used my white paint pen and wrote all my blessings – one on each slice.
I think I could have written a thousand, but I limited it to about 16 or so.
You can do as many as you like!

DIY Blessings Tree - Embracing ChangeYou could use chalk I suppose, but the paint pen worked best for me.
It is hard to fit all you need to on each slice and a pen allows for more precise penmanship.
After the slices were fully dry, I drilled a small hole in the top of each one large enough to string the twine through it.
Then I had fun stringing them up on my tree and adding all the finishing touches.
